Production Engineer

Responsibilities

 

ELANTAS North America, Inc. is seeking a Production Engineer (Chemical).  This role is based on-site in St. Louis, MO.

 

The position will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, workflows, and equipment to improve quality, efficiency, capacity, and reduce costs. The position will be the liaison between production, R&D and quality and will report to the Operations Technical Manager. 

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support and foster a safe working environment for all employees. Participate as the technical lead for PHAs, LOPAs, MOCs, and other process safety activities.
  • Process optimization – typically incremental improvements of existing equipment either setting standards and/or developing return to standard activities/instructions/changes.
  • Production oversight (not manage the people) – monitor the chemical processes including raw material charges (product and quantity) and product made (material balance, product yield), batch size, cycle times, and down time.
  • Technical troubleshooting – when deviations from standard are observed or reported, they lead the investigation to identify root cause, contributing cause, and corrective actions.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or similar
  • 2-4+ years’ manufacturing production experience
  • Manufacturing Production System experience (LEAN and 6 Sigma) a plus
  • Experience leading and supporting manufacturing engineering projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvement
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing issues/implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Proven experience ensuring manufacturing processes and engineering practices comply with applicable industry standards and regulations
