Operations Manager

Responsibilities

 

ELANTAS North America, Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee manufacturing operations reporting to the VP of Operations. This on-site role is based in St. Louis, MO, and may involve travel to other U.S. and global facilities. The Operations Manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient production of products across four production areas, while ensuring strong collaboration across all departments to support operational success.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all regulatory, safety, and health standards are met to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Support scheduling team to develop production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Resource Management: Ensure that all necessary resources (workforce, raw materials, equipment) are available and used efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Monitor production processes to ensure that products meet quality standards.
  • Budgeting: Estimate costs and prepare budgets to keep production within financial limits.
  • Team Leadership: Motivate and support production staff, ensuring they meet their potential and the team functions efficiently. Conduct monthly communication meetings with departments.
  • Problem-Solving: Address any issues that arise during production to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. Effectively use QN system within SAP.
  • Value Stream Mapping: Identify all the steps in the production process and eliminate any that do not add value to the final product.
  • 5S Methodology: Organize the workplace for efficiency and effectiveness by sorting, setting in order, shining, standardizing, and sustaining.
  • Maintenance: Maintain and improve equipment to prevent breakdowns and delays. Coordinate necessary shutdowns to ensure proper equipment maintenance.

Requirements

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 10+ years of operations or manufacturing experience, or a minimum of 20 years of equivalent experience in a related discipline.
  • Proven management and leadership experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective procedure writing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all relevant internal and external stakeholders in an international business environment.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at any given time
  • Good interpersonal skills and result orientation
  • Ability to demonstrate and foster safe working behavior in the team

Work Environment

  • 5 days a week on-site
  • Requires flexibility to respond to communications outside of standard working hours as needed.
  • Must tolerate working environment with inside ambient and outdoor temperatures.
  • Must be able to work with company policies, guidelines, procedures, systems, processes and tools.
