Laboratory Technician
Responsibilities
We are seeking a talented and dedicated Materials Testing Technician (Lab Technician) to join our team in St. Louis, MO. As a key member of our laboratory, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of tests on materials to determine their physical and mechanical properties. The Lab Technician (Materials Testing Tech) is responsible for the execution of tests and reporting of results. A successful technician will evaluate physical properties of materials using a variety of testing methods and equipment to determine the strength, toughness, ductility, and other properties of materials, which can be used to improve the performance and safety of products and structures.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct mechanical and physical tests on a variety of materials using advanced testing equipment
- Performs mechanical tests within laboratory scope of testing and reports results with 100% accuracy.
- Interpret test results and provide detailed reports of findings
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Performs long term aging test
- Prepare samples such as magnet wire for test
- Reports results in compliance with UL and ELANTAS requirements
- Maintain records to comply with UL and TS16949 requirements
- Interface with all departments such as Maintenance and QC to resolve problems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives
- All other duties as assigned or required.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in materials testing
Requirements
Qualification, knowledge and experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Accurate and efficient computer data entry skills
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Lab experience within a manufacturing environment is highly preferredMust have a good understanding of the mechanical and physical properties of materials, as well as the testing methods and equipment used to measure them, experience a plus.
- Must be able to interpret the results of tests and make recommendations based on the data.
