Accountant

Responsibilities

 

As an Accountant, you will play a hands-on role in turning financial data into insights that help leaders make smart business decisions. You will dig into cost trends, inventory activity, and operational results to spot risks, uncover opportunities, and support stronger processes across multiple sites. You will work for a high growth market leader in the Electrical/ Chemical industry.  This role is a great opportunity for someone who is energetic and passionate about their work and making a difference in their company, enjoys problem-solving, working with large data sets, and partnering with cross-functional teams across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management

  • Oversee all aspects of inventory valuation, costing, and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate and support physical inventory counts and related audit activities.
  • Develop and maintain cost standards for materials and labor.
  • Perform month‑end cost accounting close, including preparation of inventory‑related journal entries.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare cost and variance analyses to support business decisions.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Assist with tax and audit support.

Systems, Processes & Controls

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Monitor financial systems to identify and recommend procedural and processing improvements.
  • Interpret, apply, and maintain accounting policies and procedures; recommend changes as appropriate.

Business Partner Exposure

  • Partner with Finance and Operations to resolve accounting and inventory issues.
  • Assist with special projects and reporting as assigned.
  • Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and other accounting functions.

Requirements

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing or cost accounting experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to evolving systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Hands‑on, proactive mindset with a willingness to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
