EHS Specialist
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for working closely with EHS manager to oversee EHS management across BYK Additives Shanghai, including branch companies and employees in customer sites. The role ensures operational and business activities adhere to regulatory compliance while cultivating a progressive safety culture.
- Assist EHS manager and all departments to develop, maintain, and optimize company procedures and workflows to ensure alignment with: National / international regulations, corporate standards, ISO 45001 / 14001 requirements and sustainability objectives.
- Track EHS KPIs for company / individuals and support all department to ensure achievement.
- Lead and track EHS projects and workplan to enable all department to foster a safety-first culture and enhance employee risk awareness.
- Monitor, audit, and report EHS performance and compliance progress; analyze incident/behavior trends to drive PDCA-cycle improvements.
- Provide support to incident/near-miss investigations of all departments, share lesson-learning and implementation of remedial actions.
- Maintain an up-to-date emergency response plan for key scenarios; assist EHS manager to manage the site firefighting team and security guard team, ensuring readiness and equipment compliance.
- Manage hazardous waste disposal compliantly and cost-effectively, maintaining required records.
- Assist EHS manager to liaise with internal and external stakeholders (authorities, headquarters, etc.) to build constructive relationships.
- Prepare for and facilitate internal/external audits; develop and realize opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with line managers to identify improvement opportunities and remove implementation barriers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety engineering or Chemical Engineering
- 5 + years Manufacturing Safety experience within the chemical industry, preferably in batch operations
- Hold Certified Safety Professional Certificate
- Must have experience in managing Environment Health & Safety (EHS) program
- With experience in conducting EHS audit
- Strong leadership skills to drive change management
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently to meet deadlines
- Assertive and self- motivated, hands-on
- Possess strong communication skills (spoken & written in both English & Mandarin)
- Excellent computer skills
- Candidate with driving license preferred
- Candidate can work in Fengxian (Shanghai Chemical Industry Park)
